A few weeks ago, our team member Ellie went to the ‘LUX: New Wave of Contemporary Art’ exhibition curated by SUUM in collaboration with Fact and 180 Studios, and wanted to share the experience with you.

LUX: New Wave of Contemporary Art

Featuring 13 large-scale installations, LUX brings together 12 celebrated new media artists and collectives working with the latest audio-visual technologies to expand the boundaries of interactive and immersive art, blurring the lines between the physical and virtual worlds.

“THE ARTISTS IN LUX ARE WORKING AT THE VERY CUTTING EDGE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES, USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, GENERATIVE AND INTERACTIVE ALGORITHMS, DIMENSIONAL SOUND AND OPTICAL ILLUSION TO CREATE A NEW KIND OF ARTISTIC EXPERIENCES”.

- Jiyoon Lee, LUX Curator and Director of SUUM Project

This show, as part of an ongoing series with LG OLED ART, provides artists with the opportunity to experiment and explore their creative potential.

LUX features new 180 Studios Commissions from Es Devlin, Hito Steyerl and Julian Knxx alongside the UK premiere of 'Renaissance Generative Dreams' by Refik Anadol, and incredible works by Carsten Nicolai, a'strict, Cao Yuxi, Cecilia Bengolea and Universal Everything.

Ellie’s favourite installation was Starry Beach by a'strict, a multi-sensory installation that invites the audience to a surreal space full of luminous, surging waves resembling a starlit night.

Accompanied by the sound of crashing waves, the "high-definition projections punctuate the pitch-black surroundings with a unique visual rhythm". Have a watch below.

The exhibition has been extended until February 20th, 2022, and we highly recommend you go visit for yourself. You can purchase your tickets here.
