To us, a good frame isn't just beautifully designed and expertly crafted. It’s an ‘everyday item’ that breaks free from the mundane stereotype of 'everyday item', and instead, elevates your every day.
With that in mind, we decided to celebrate the launch of Belleville by spending the day with award winning designer and woodworker Sophie Sellu, discussing how craftsmanship and creativity can transform an everyday item into something special.
A playful re-imagination of classic a 1960’s European style, Belleville is a slightly oversized rounded Panto shape with a strong lens profile and sculpted keyhole bridge. All of which is softened by an elegant flick leading to the temple, for subtle effortless flair.
For the first MONC store, we wanted to create an environment where buying new glasses isn't just a process of sifting through rows of eyewear stacked on endless shelves.
We’ve approached the design process in the same way that we do with our eyewear, by considering each element for its sourcing, longevity and circularity. No material, component, how it’s made or disposed of at end of life, can be ignored.
