In celebration of London Fields II, we’ve curated a neighbourhood guide featuring our favourite new spots, alongside the ones that inspired us to design the original London Fields frame all those years ago, and continue to inspire us today.

E5 Bake House

Tucked under the railway arches, E5 is more than a bakery — it’s a community-first social enterprise showing that good business can be about more than profit.

From their Hackney home, they mill heritage grains on site, bake the freshest bread you’ll find in London, and offer up a selection of deli produce, baked goods and lunch options using produce sourced from their very own farm in Suffolk.

People and planet are just as integral to their business as a good sourdough starter, from implementing regenerative agriculture practices to investing in training programmes that support and welcome the refugee community. That same ethos is reflected in their coffee. Mainly organic, roasted in-house and sourced from community-owned, origin-based exporters. We particularly loved learning about their Sail Cargo project, which brings beans across the Atlantic by sailboat, cutting thousands of kilos of CO₂.

E5 Bakehouse show us how even simple everyday rituals of bread and coffee can become catalysts for positive change.

We opted for the sweet apple danish and the Miso aubergine sourdough sandwich.

Art Words

Specialising in books on contemporary visual arts and visual culture, at Art Words you’ll find publications on fashion, graphic design, architecture, photography, fine art, and critical theory. Take your time flicking through their curation of books and magazines and leave with an urge to learn more, create more, and think more.

Rites

When you need ‘something new’ to wear to that event, why not preserve your bank account and natural resources by renting, instead of buying something that you don’t see becoming part of your core wardrobe? You can rent designer garments from Rites for up to 30 days at a time, and the best part - you can try before you rent by visiting their showroom on Broadway Market.

The Company Formally Known As Heackles

The Prince of skincare, AKA, The company formerly known as Haeckles, is a brand we’ve admired since they first launch in Margate back in 2013. Using seaweed hand-harvested from the local shores, they make fuss-free, synthetic-free skin care that will leave your skin feeling plumped and refreshed, but they’re not just creating creams and serums; they’re creating a new way of doing business. Citizens, not consumers, is their mantra, and part of this centres around pulling back the curtain on their production, from formula to cost. They also run a free community sauna in Margate and are involved in several charitable partnerships focused on conservation and regeneration. Finally, sharing our ethos of making as little impact as possible while creating an exceptional product, all of their packaging is biobased.

London Fields Lido

30 laps of this 50-meter open-air swimming pool is a great way to clear your head - then go and grab a coffee, find a sun-dappled bench in the park, and watch the world go by.

Brat

Championing Basque-style open-fire cooking, Brat got awarded its first Michelin star just six months after opening. Fittingly, Brat - meaning Turbot in Old English - serves up a number of responsibly sourced fresh fish dishes, wild, native and caught daily. Stop by for a comforting meal that feels both special and simple, with a grounding smokiness that adds depth and complexity to each dish.
