For the first MONC store, we wanted to create an environment where buying new glasses isn't just a process of sifting through rows of eyewear stacked on endless shelves.
The empty space has doubled up as a temporary design studio for the last two months, as we've gathered together a team of individuals who share in a collective goal, to approach the way we design retail spaces from an entirely reconsidered perspective.
We’ve approached the design process in the same way that we do with our eyewear, by considering each element for its sourcing, longevity and circularity. No material, component, how it’s made or disposed of at end of life, can be ignored.
Over the past few weeks, we've been filling our empty store with mushroom mycelium, hemp, layers of cornstarch foam, apricot recycled plastic, and our very own handcrafted eyewear.
Carefully considered materiality and tactility at the forefront of each designers mind, creating an immersive, sustainable and intriguing experience for all.
We're re-framing the eyewear experience, come in and take a look.
