Alison Pollack is a California-based photographer whose subject includes minuscule fungi that are difficult to be seen without a trained eye or with a microscope. She documents fungi that springs from leaves and bits of bark with an extreme macro lens, revealing the fine detailed patterns and textures that cover their bodies.

In the last few years Pollack has captured even finer details of her subjects, using a microscope lens that magnifies the fungi by up to 20 times their actual size. The resulting images aim to reveal the beautiful and intricate details of each organism, such as the individual spores, their veiny web structures and unique colours.
